La Tortuga Feliz is a non-profit organization and can only stay successful if volunteers participate in the project. With your contribution you help with the protection of the sea turtle and the improvement of the living conditions of the local inhabitants.
The SCLC’s mission is to link communities and conservation through education and ecotourism in the Sarapiquí region of Costa Rica’s northern lowlands. The SCLC focuses its efforts in four areas — environmental education, community development, conservation, and tourism — in order to help form future environmental leaders, raise the organizational capacity of local communities, promote sustainable land use, and connect tourists to the local community.
PRETOMA seeks to protect the populations of sea turtles that nest and feed in the coastal and marine environments of Costa Rica, and the habitats on which they depend. We strive to work in a manner that respects and satisfies the economic and cultural needs of the coastal communities and other groups that directly interact with sea turtles, such as fishermen.
While ANAI takes pride in being a "muddy boots" organization in intimate contact with the people and the land, we have no pretension of being a "grassroots" organization ourselves. Rather, we are an intermediary organization, seeking to nurture locally based transformational processes leading to self- sufficient local ("grassroots") organizations focusing on the achievement of sustainability.
